LG Octane wont connect in usb mass storage mode windows 7(64)

trying to access the usb mass storage mode with an lg octane using windows 7 (64)
has anyone else successfully done this???
I cant find anyone else with this problem or a solution
will not show up as a drive letter in "my computer"
but is recognized in device manager as "lgvn530 usb device"
simply trying to access the my photos, my videos folders etc...
seems like a driver issue so can someone point me to one that works?
please help...THANX
OTHER INFO:
am using an sd card which i have formated by saving pictures to it in the phone
connects like it should using a windows xp machine
have tried multiple LG and Verizon usb drivers
shows up as a disk drive under "device manager"
