Receiving several unwanted text messages from 200-020-002001 every day on my LG Revere and cannot find a way to block them. Verizon spam blocking requires a 10-digit phone number or email address to block unwanted messages and as you can see, this is a 12-digit number. Is there anyone else having this problem and, if so, how do you get rid of it?

Hi Community!
This brings me back to my old tech support days. I've seen these messages many times before. Basically, it's an alert from a subscription that can't be read by your phone. For example, let's say you have Mobile Email on a phone. The network pushes down code to the phone that's read by the Mobile Email program (this is how you get your email). If you change phones while that subscription is still active (on the network end), and the application isn't available or utilized on the new phone, the message comes through as weird code because there's no application to read the code.
All we need to do is ensure all subscriptions are canceled on the network end. A quick call to customer service will accomplish this (800-922-0204 or *611). These subscriptions may not show on the bill as a charge (for example, Mobile email is usually free with a data package). This will ensure that the messages stop coming in. It doesn't have to be Mobile email, it can be any BREW (basic phone application catalog now known as Media Center) application that wasn't canceled prior to changing phones.
If you know these messages are SPAM:
We have various blocks you can put on your line. Visit: www.verizonwireless.com/spamcontrols Click on "Learn More."
For text spam, you can forward the spam message to SPAM (7726). You'll get a reply asking for the message originator. Reply with the originator's address, and our spam prevention team investigates the originator of the message.
Rob Fleming, I followed you. Feel free to DM me with your phone number, and I'd be happy to look into it. You may also call customer service if that works for you too.
Best of luck! I hope this info helps.
Regards,

Good afternoon Rob Fleming. My first thought is that this is a form of a Premium Text Message. For more info about Premium Text Messages click here: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/faqs/Premium_TXT_and_MMS/faq_premium_txt_and_mms.html?grp=1&f...
To stop Premium Text Messages reply to the message with one of the five keywords listed below in the body of the message from your phone:
- QUIT
- STOP
- END
- CANCEL
- UNSUBSCRIBE
If you are unable to opt-out using the keyword, make sure the auto signature is turned off when sending the text message. If auto signature is turned on, you will need to remove the signature from the message body and resend the text message.
A confirmation of the cancellation will be sent as a text message to the handset. If confirmation is not received and the auto signature feature was OFF, you will need to complete additional troubleshooting.

If it's premium messaging check your bill becuase you will see an extra $9.95 a month on there. Usually that happens if you are on a site to play games and don't see the fine print that you agree to sign up for this and be charged. Happens to a lot of people. Mary

Thanks for the input, but I don't play online games of any kind.
Update: I blocked all SMS messages via the Verizon Safeguards route and
still received one of these texts. i then replied with STOP as a text
message and got another one almost immediately after that. It is
frustrating and somewhat unnerving. There is no intelligible message that
comes with these text messages, just the 12-digit sender, 200-020-002001
(see the 2000 2000 2001 layout?), and the following:
//BREW:0x109e17e:0//SVeeh4jy2po0rCug0pjfdws/1bV9Qea8d7qArMMzo6A=11VS.
But, this part of the text changes each time with the most recent being
//BREW:0x109e17e:0//SVYUhvy4RSAGmOLt+VxaNftve5LLvobl88E2vQWKlgNyY=//VS.
Anyone seen unwanted texts like these?
Please help. I may have to cancel my Verizon account and go with another
carrier if this doesn't stop.
Rob

Are you being g charged $9.99 a month extra? If not then they are not premium messages and just spam. If they are premium messages a call to customer service and the can tell you where they are coming from, most likely a website. It is not only from games for premium messaging. There are lots of ways on websites like facebook and stuff. If you give your cell and don't see the fine print about the charges it happens. Mary

I just got the phone last week. As far as I can tell, the only text-related charge on my bill is the $5 I pay for 250 messages per month.

Well then that's not a premium message but watch your bill because premium messaging is usually $9.99 a month. Most people don't notice it until paying the bill for months that they got sacked with it from siging up for something off a website and stuff. Call and see if verizon can track down where it's coming from. Mary

Isnt BREW the OZMail message. To the OP, have you switched phones recently.
If so, reactivate the old phone and delete any email accounts on it and then reactivate your newer phone.
Also, if you call into tech support from another phone, they can usually kill off those text messages also

I don't know what BREW is. I have switched phones, but I completely erased all content and reset the old phone before selling it. I plan to call tech support for more help although one tech support person I talked with yesterday wasn't able to help at all and advised me to add a $30 package to my calling plan if I couldn't block the messages. Ironically, the reason I switched phones was to escape the $30/month requirement.
Thanks for all the attempts to shed some light on this bizarre situation.
