My LG Revere phone model VX 8300 will not charge. When attempting charge there is a message stating "downloading do not unplug". Please advise what to do(new battery needed perhaps?)

That definitely sounds bothersome and we're here to help out. When did this start exactly? Based on the message it would appear that the device was going to undergo some update of sorts. Are you aware if you have a data block on your phone? If so, this could prevent the successful completion of any update thus causing the error message. Let's check to see if an update is available for the device. See how here http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-45859/. If there is a data block on your line you can try the alternate method available here after selecting your device http://www.lg.com/us/support/mobile-software-updates. Otherwise, any data block would need to be removed in order to complete.
