Need help please

my friend had a cell and she had her phone added to her boyfriends line, when things went sour, instead of him just disconnecting the phone, he reported it stolen so she couldn't use her phone on anyother line and he wouldnt have to pay the disconnect fee. Their was a car wreck and it resulted in the gentle man passing away, is there anyway for her to get her phone to be fixed so she can have the stolen stuff not pop up on her when she tries to reconnect her phone or is it a lost cause

Unfortunate story. If the phone was on his account and he reported it stolen and then passed away, I don't know of any way to get her electronic serial number off the blacklist. She should just find a new phone elsewhere and be thankful it wasn't her in the wreck.
