Need help with phone for senior citizen

My mother is in her eighties and needs a new Verizon phone. The Gusto 2 looks very simple and I have seen it in the stores being sold as a no-contract Verizon phone.  If I buy it for her would she be able to use it even though she does have a contract?  Also, when I opened her old phone I did not see a sim card.  How would I go about transferring her from one phone to the other?  I'm not a customer, so I don't know the answers.  Thank you for any help.

Does she have a Verizon Wireless account already?  Th basic CDMA phone on the Verizon Wireless network don't use SIM cards.  You can transfer the contacts through Backup Assistant or manually.  Have you consider going with a prepaid plan?  You can also consider purchasing a used device from Swappa or eBay along it is a Verizon Wireless branded device.  You can activate the device or either a postpaid account or a prepaid one.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yes, she already has a contract. I'm just trying to get her a working phone as fast as possible.  She lives at an assisted living facility and needs her phone to get in touch with her family and friends.

Doesn't a prepaid phone have to be on prepaid for a certain amount of months before you can use it as post paid or am I remembering that wrong?  Mary

I know how important it is for your mother to have a working device as soon as possible. I'm sure she wants to keep in touch with her friends and family. If you're mother has a previous Verizon Wireless device or you purchase a device at the full retail value. The device may be added to the account through Customer Service, Verizon Wireless corporate store or online through My Verizon. Since there isn't a SIM card the device is added manually to the account. http://vz.to/U3yVGV
