Only getting the last page of a long text

For example, I'll get texts that say:

2/2 "and what is obviously the last sentence or last half of a text"

So, obviously there were 2 pages and I never get the first one.  It happens every time, no matter who is sending or what company their phone is from.  I'm so sick of texting "can you send that last message in smaller increments, my phone doesn't like long texts!". lol.

Any ideas?

When was the last time you dialed *228, option 1 to reprogram the phone to the Verizon Wireless network?

I actually went ahead and did the "set back to factory settings" thing.  and it did have me dial  *228 and everything. 

Now to just wait for a long text to see if it worked!
