Picture format for Samsung Intensity II

I had to replace the Micro SD card in my Samsung Intensity II. I put the pictures onto the card from my laptop, Windows recognizes that the pics are there. When I put the card into my phone, the phone does not see them. The photos are in .jpg format. Is that the correct? If not, which format do I need the change them to?

I believe the photos have to be in a folder called my_pix for the phone to recognize them.
