I have had a Verizon prepaid phone for about 4 years ago as my landline dies during the winter rains. It worked great and worked in a roaming area covered by Golden State Cellular until about 6 months ago. 6 monthes ago, the call would go through the Golden State system but when the call got to the Verizon system, it would bring up the verizon error message. "Welcome to verizon wireless! Your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and dial again! Announcement for switch ???." There were 2-3-4 bars showing during these calls. If I called 611, I could talk to Verizon with no problems.I can also talk with Golden State Cellular. They say they would be happy to have me as a new customer. I can receive calls in the roaming area with no problems. Calls to tech support were unproductive with most of them ending with a boilerplate "Service is not garaunteed in roaming areas". I have done the roaming activation *228 update with no luck. Phone is a Samsung SCH-U340.
Is there a reason for the degradation of my service? .
TIA

Are you dialing the full 10 digit number, with no leading "1"?
I have tried both ways. Same result. Error message.
