I had the same problem with a Brightside and the Ford Sync system in a 2011 Ford Fusion. I called Ford tech support... no solution. They simply said that it is not one of the supported phones. However, on the "brightside", I found the solution! Click on the phone's SETTINGS function, then open Bluetooth Settings. SYNC should already be connected using Bluetooth... if not, connect it the way Ford Sync instructs. Once connected, you'll see SYNC as a connected item in the list, click on it. It will give you a CONNECT button which connects it immediately to the SYNC system if SYNC is active in the car. Then, at the bottom of the Bluetooth screen, you'll see a bar with the word SETTINGS. Click it. Then, set DISCOVERY MODE to ON. That should make it work normally. Mine does. Hope you can get yours going.
