My sons Brightside beginning last week refuses to turn itself off. It is also showing a constantly that it is recharging when it is not. I have removed the battery and waited a 10 mins to replace and have had no luck with that. Any ideas out there? It had been doing just great until last week.

That is incredibly strange! I'm so sorry your son is having this issue. I will be delighted to check into this and see what we can do.
I checked my resources and I didn't see any other recorded reports of this same issue. I truly appreciate you trying to reboot the phone as I would have suggested this as well.
Since you've already completed that step, I would ensure all of his personal information is backed up such as contacts and media (pictures, etc) and reset his phone:

I have the same problem. I tried the reset....didn't work.
