Samsung Gusto 2 Bluetooth connection with PC

Just got the new Gusto 2, but have been unable to sucessfully interface with my PC. Tried direct USB connection and Windows 7 didnt like any of the drivers available online incl the latest from the Samsung site. Bought a "Targus" (Broadcom BCM20702) USB Bluetooth Adapter and even though it setup fine and showed as fully functional it wouldnt connect and locked up the PC. Devices and Printers wouldnt even display when it was active. Has anyone sucessfully interfaced this phone with a PC and if so, what did you use to do it? Thanks. ChuckM

I know it's great to be able to save your pictures and memories, Chuck. I can help you with that. Your device does not have USB connection capabilities. This is generally a feature that's available on smartphones. In order to share files between your phone and your PC, you'll need an SD card in your phone and a SD card reader. When you want to sync your files, remove the SD card. Insert it into the SD card reader and connect it via the USB port on your PC. I hope this helps. Have a great day.

That would be an easy way to do it, and thats the way I used to do it with my old LG phone, however, the Gusto 2 has no external memory card slot that I am aware of. C.

Hi Mary. Yes, that is what I ended up having to do for my basic, wallpaper, and caller photo ID pics for the family, but I dont want to do that for any quantity. Normally I dont text and I actually have it turned off on my service for the most part. That is why I opted for a simple, basic phone like the Gusto 2. Unfortunately it is a bit too basic and doesnt even allow most normal data transfer options that I had in my old phone that was about 10 yrs old. As such, I am very dissatisfied with this phone and lack of Verizon support for this. Thanks again. C.

B33, thanks for the info, however, nothing Samsung has appears to help either. The Gusto 2 is actually a U365 and although it seems to connect fine using the USB cable, I cant get beyond that. Most postings refer to an app called Kies, however, after installing that, it attempts to connect with the phone and says its not a compatible device. I have posted my inquiry on the Samsung support site, but no response yet. ChuckM

AFAIK, the USB cable for the Gusto 2 is only for charging, not for data transfer.  Again, AFAIK, the only way to get photos off the phone (since there is no SD card slot) is to text them to yourself, e-mail them to yourself, or use bluetooth to transfer them.

Thanks for the input. It would appear that your USB cable observation is correct, unlike most other phones. I dont text and generally have it disabled on the acct and dont care to incur the added expense of a texting/data on the acct so it does look like Bluetooth may be the only option. Unfortunately my first attempt with that proved to be a failure as well using a Broadcom BCM20702 adapter. It only locked up the PC and wouldnt pair with the phone. Will have to try some additional devices and see if I can find a compatible adapter. I really hate how the phone companies are eliminating everything but the smart phones in their selection. This was one of the few remaining simple flip phones still offered by Verizon. To me phones are for calling people, PCs are for email and computing, and texting is just worthless. C.
