Unfortunately, the choices for basic phones are getting fewer and fewer, and not everyone wants or needs a smartphone. That's why folks are turning to ebay and the like and purchasing discontinued phones. Of the current basic phone lineup, the Convoy 2 is a nice phone.
Good luck with the Bluetooth approach; hopefully you'll get that up and running soon.

I got my first smart phone a few months ago and love it. Got the LG optimus L9 but not on verizon. We still have 2 basic phones on verizon though because hubby and son don't care about internet and I wanted unlimited so moved to another carrier for my smart phone and it has worked out well. Mary

I don't know if you are still trying, but I wanted to let you know that it is not impossible to do this despite what Verizon support says.
The good news is that I managed it last year. The bad news is that because of another problem that required a complete reset, I lost the connection. It was one of those things where you try lots of times and one thing you did finally works. Unfortunately, I am not sure what it was. If I get it working again, I will post.
Like you, I do not want to pay to send a bunch of photos and never use text or photos anyway.

This morning, after numerous experiments, I successfully paired the Samsung Gusto 2 with my PC again. I downloaded 43 pictures that had been accumulating on the telephone. Here are the steps I followed:
1) Insert a Bluetooth dongle in a USB slot on the PC.
2) After the driver installs, right click on the Bluetooth icon in the Task(Systray) on the bottom right of the PC screen.
3) Choose Bluetooth settings in the drop-down menu.
4) Make sure there is a check mark in the pop up box to allow connections and remove a check mark in the box for turn off the adapter if it is there. Click Apply.
5) On the Gusto 2 go to Settings/Bluetooth. In Options, choose PC as the search method and under AutoPair choose ON. Select allow discover.
6) On the Gusto 2 go to the My Pictures section. Under options chose Send and then select Bluetooth.
7) Add New Device will come up. Click OK, It should find the name of your PC at this point.
😎 On your PC a screen will pop up saying a device is asking permission to connect. Click to allow it. Now you should see on the PC screen a message asking whether the six digit number matches the one on the Gusto 2. The same message should appear on the telephone. Don't waste time comparing them. Immediately click Yes on the PC and then on the Gusto.
9) When I did this, the pictures immediately began downloading to my PC. It did not take long at all.
This will work. I know because I did it a number of times last year and again this morning when I experiment around trying to remember the exact sequence. It's a lot better than paying to email the pictures to yourself.

Oh yes, I forgot. Between steps 7 and 8 you have to click PAIR on the Gusto.
