Samsung Intensity III?

Has anyone purchased this phone yet?  Would be very interested in reviews.  Thinking about downgrading from my smartphone (LG Vortex), since I never use the data plan.

Yes, I did and I am frustrated.

I received Samsung Intensity III from Verizon.com last Friday. I thought that I was upgrating my 4 years old Samsung Sway to Samsung Intensity III. So far it looks like I downgrated my old Sway.

I have been customers of Verizon for over 16 years and I have owned few Samsung phones. So far, it look like the Samsung Intensity III could be the worst cell phone I have owned.

Problems: Drop calls while on the phone, very poor signal, my friends are saying that my voice sound like is coming from underground.

Last night I spent few hours with Verizon tech support. We done manual resets, reactivated, dialed *228, etc., etc., etc.  Nothing helped to get a better signal or sound.

I am now in 48 hours waiting period. Verizon is checking if there is an issue with Samsung Intensity III in my area.

I have never had any signal issue in the past in my area. This must be something wrong with this phone.

The phone came out probably on the beginning of July. There are not too many reviews.

I just wonder if anyone expiriencing the same problems: poor signal, terrible sound, drop calls.

Verizon has not yet set up a support page on their website for the Intensity III. Someone on another forum posted a direct link to the manual which is available though on their website.

If this will be of any help to anyone, here's a link to the phone on Samsung's website:

http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SCH-U485RKAVZW

I've been checking various websites for customer reviews and customer videos and haven't found any except for a handful of reviews at verizonwireless.com and at an online retailer wirelesszone:

I am concerned about and disappointed by this statement posted by a customer at Verizon's website.

"Comments:  My only small gripe is that the texting font is very tiny and cannot be changed.

Cons:  font for typing test is very small."

I also checked all the websites and could not find any discussions or reviews beyond the 9 that were posted on Verizon.com website. Weird. Only one explanation is possible – no one buys this phone.

One of my local Walmart stores still has the Samsung SCH-u370(formerly known as the Reality) for 99 cents. You might want to check near you for other "older" new phones.

Thanks for your reply and info.

I was “married” to Samsung Sway for four years. This was the best phone I have ever had, but this phone was dying because of age.  Smiley Sad

I am not yet ready for a touch screen and I don’t want to go back to a standard flip phone.

For these reasons I choose Samsung Intensity III. So far, all features are working normally. After an evening spent with Verizon tech support, yet I did not have calls drop.

My friends also told me that my voice sounds better.

Only one thing was to do or accept, this is a signal. I do not know whether it is important that I have shown only one stroke, in a situation where I can be connected.
Keep your fingers crossed. This can be
a good phone. Maybe I must to get used to the phone.

My husband and I had Razr vzm3 flip phones for 5 years and loved them.  We never had any problems with call quality or dropped calls but now they will only hold a charge for about a day so it was time to get new phones .  We went to our large Verizon store last Sunday to get the Samsung Intensity III and were told that they couldn't sell us one until all of their Intensity II stock was sold, so we left the store.  We went to a smaller Verizon store in the area and they had no problem selling us the Intensity III.  Until today, we have not had any problems other than trying to learn how to use the different features.  The features all seemed to work well and we like the phones.  Today, however, I called my husband and he said he could hardly hear me and near the end of the call, I thought he hung up,.  When I got home, I asked him about it and he said he did not hang up, so the call was dropped.  I will admit that the call was made during a raging thunderstorm, so that may have had something to do with it, but storms never bothered my old phone.  We haven't had the phones for very long so I don't have a lot to base an opinion on.  I will post again if we encounter any more problems.

I got this phone last Friday. I agree that it is too early to give a fair opinion. I also will do an additional post – maybe in a week.

We can help others in choosing the basic phone.

D R: Have you considered buying a Samsung Sway from ebay ? At this moment, there are two new Sways and 39 used Sways.

moia: I hope that you and your husband haven't parted with your RAZR V3m yet.

I just checked a retailer that I've used in the past that only sells authentic equipment. Wirelessground is still selling V3m batteries (standard batteries and extended batteries) -- I typed 'V3m battery' in the search box. And ebay has a lot of listing for V3m batteries, although I don't know if ebay still is a place where people try to sell counterfeit cellphone batteries alongside authentic batteries.

Thanks. I am already beginning to get used to the Samsung Intensity III. This phone has more features than Sway.
