Whats wrong with my Samsung Intensity II...?

I have verizon prepaid service on a samsung intensity II. EVERYTIME I try to use the speed dial it does this and about about 50% of the time when I try to dial normally.I keep getting the message:

Please re-enter the 10 digit number you re trying to call.

The only way I have been able to temporarily fix the problem is to cut off my phone and turn it back on, then try to dial the number again.  People also tell me when they try to call me that it says that I am unable to receive calls at this time.

I am awaiting the results of a very important job interview in the next week and a half, and I can't afford to miss or not get the call due to a malfunctioning phone.

PLEASE HELP!
