Why Is My Phone Not Activating After I Changed My Number?

I changed my phone number on my Verizon account, my issue is that my same phone is not taking the new number. I am unable to make and receive calls and text. When I dial *611 it is ALWAYS busy. Please help. Thank you. I have a basic flip phone.

Turn the phone off, then back on again.  Then dial *228, choose option 1.  It needs to be reactivated with the new number.  It may ask the number when you call *228, and you'll enter the new 10 digit number.

Phone was already activated and working.

The basics of technology have seemed to conquer me yet again..... Thank you for your help, you were right   . Phone is now functioning perfectly. I am going to go watch a movie on my VHS.
