unlocked or not that phone won't work on Sprint's network.

Basic phones as well as smartphones can sometimes utilize some of the frequencies and bands from other carriers, but function is limited since, for example, Sprint uses 800 and 1900 and Verizon uses 850 and 1900...therefore only one frequency would work in this case.  So, it's not the most efficient use of a phone.
