Hello everyone,
It seems I also am a victim of poor advertising practices, I signed up in April for a May 1st Installation, where I was expicitly told I would get a 300 prepaid visa card with the current promotion. The installation was okay even though they never provided hdmi cables and the wanted 50 dollar per line just to drill a hole in the wall. None of this was ever told to me ahead of time. Then after installing I had extrememly poor wifi serv ice in my house, they provided no solution but having for me to buy a repeater and router. I now have three routers in my home for a 3 bedroom apartment. So I decide to let that all go and inquire about my Gift Card. I was just told that the promotion offer does not show in my account. I dont understand why as I signed up with a two year contract because of the gift card. if not I would have just stayed with the same cost and have no contract. I dont find this fair, as I have been more than patient, and I left Time warner just because of this gift card. Does anyone know what I can do? Do I have to file a complaint with the better business bureau? Thanks for your help in advance.

This issue has not been resolved. Verizon customer service in the chat resulting from my original post gave me the same runaround that the phone customer service people gave me. They all seem to be reading from the same dishonest script, where they say they are giving me a better deal with discounts that end up at the same $89.99/month promised. This is definitely a scam. How does one get Verizon to honor the offer, which I accepted in good faith?

Same problem here - except I was promised a $250 VISA card. We signed up online in March 2014, ordered the required bundle, have paid all of our bills on time, but have heard NOTHING from the company regarding their keeping their promise to send out a prepaid card. I can tell that with all the postings I've been reading that this is another giant corporate scam. It appears that thousands of people are being denied what they were supposed to get or are simply being given the corporate run-around in the hope that they will simply give up. Very clever, Verizon, but I suppose with your sad reputation for customer service, I should have expected nothing less. Maybe you can dig real deep into your incredibly cash-lined pocket and give me what you said you would?

Hi asnyder112,
A private support case was opened for you when you posted this message earlier, but was closed because the support agents did not hear from you. Would you like us to reopen the private support case for you?

I just spent three hours of my evening trying to sort out the same issue. I signed up under pressure to get the promotion last October before I closed on my house. We never actually moved in until June and kept delaying the service to keep the promotion. It was definitely a topic of conversation with Verizon a few times. I have now had the service for over 90 days and have yet to receive the giftcard. I called three weeks ago and they said the giftcard was being mailed almost three Thursdays ago. I know it doesnt take 21 days to mail something. When I called back this evening, they told me to call a different number. This number was basically for your giftcard balance. When I finally got through, the representative had no record of the card and was referring to my verizon wireless account and things from last May. I called back ago and spoke to another person who said I was given the wrong number and she would transfer me to the right one. She also said the promotion is not on my account. I find it interesting that someone told me it was mailed three weeks ago. When I got transferred, of course that office was closed. I tried to use the support on here and no one was available to chat. It concerns me to see that so many people have had the same issue.

I too was promised a $300 visa card when I signed up back in September 2013.
I called about a month later to check on the status, and I was told that my card was being processed and that it takes 90 days for me tor receive it. Well 90 days passed, I called again, this time I was told, that I was never on their list to receive one. WHAT !?? I felt so deceived ! I then wasted more time making more calls as I felt it was simply wrong! Very deceptive practice Verizon! Obviously they do this to lure new business and they count on people who most of the time just get disappointed and give up. Their loss and Verizon's gain. Just can't imagine this type of deceptive practice is done by a very large well-known company in US.

Update: They tracked down my order and called their third-party card issuer, who says will mail it to me. Apparently their record shows it was sent out on 12/10/14 (about 80 days from sign-up) but I never received it.
I will update it here if I actually do receive the card. I'm told it takes up to 15 calendar days.

So I guess I am not the only one being told getting discounts would mean no gift card. My service started in May, it's been 5 months that I was waiting patiently. Today I finally called Verizon, after half hour waiting on call, I was told the email they sent you on blah blah blah day confirmed that you are getting blah blah blah discount, it doesn't say you will be getting 300 visa card, so that means you are not getting Visa Card. I was like, huh? The promotion I signed up online at that time was getting the discount, and if I signed up for 2 years, I will get 300 Visa card. How was I suppose to know that an email sent to confirm my installation of service was a proof of contract that I am not getting gift card? How would I know a big company like Verizon will cheat the way out of the promotion? I am telling all my friends to save proofs, take pictures of the promotion, or ask for something in writing, and if not they will not get anything at the end. Oh of course, I told them after all the trouble you might not get what you promised anyhow, just stay away from Verizon at cost. All companies are having same speed and more channels, if you can't live up to the promotion that you sent out to lure ppl to your company, then don't start promotion at all. I would have gone for Fios for the speed anyhow, but having to deal with this scam, I am counting down the day the service ends so I can switch to others.
