This weekend, AT&T ported our telephone numbers to their services without our knowledge. Verizon dropped our service when this happened and we were left without cell phone service. Since we did not have AT&T devices we could not automatically request the numbers be ported back to Verizon. My husband spent 7 hours on the phone between AT&T (about 30 minutes) and Verizon trying to get our numbers back and our phones turned back on.
Finally, we were set up as new customers (after being Verizon customers for 5 years) - our plan and rate was changed and increased, mobile device protection was added for some reason, we were charged $70 for a new service activation fee, and I am being told that I have to pay the remainder of my phone balance (over $700) in full.
7 hours on the phone with customer service reps that kept either handing us off to someone new (who we then had to explain what was happening to over and over) or hanging up on us when they were supposed to be transferring us and then slapping up with all these charges is completely unacceptable.

We're sorry to read about the situation you experienced with getting your numbers ported over to ATT. We want to make sure that you are set to go on your new account. We'll be sending a private note. ~Peter
