Auto Pay Discount for Verizon Retirees

As a VZW retiree, I get a 25% discount on wireless access.  I already have paperless billing, as all employee accounts went paperless years ago.  I moved earlier this year to auto pay, with direct billing to my checking account (i.e., ACH), but I am not getting the $10/line auto pay discount.

I'm now told that retirees do not qualify for the auto pay discount.  Is that correct? The auto pay discount is totally separate from the monthly access discount.  Why would retirees not be eligible for a discount that anyone off the street can get?

You probably know more of the history than I would on when this became a thing, but from what I've read in the forums over the past year, discounts are not "stackable".  When people have tried to change things, a lot of the times they end up with the lesser of the 2 discounts and therefore a worse situation than what they had before and they can't go back.  I'd say 25% off is better than $10 off/month.

Yes, the 25% access discount is a little better.
