Billed for non usage month

I have activated my service on August 7th. But i got my first bill for July 8th to August 7th. Then after 30 days I got another bill for August 8th to Sep 7th. Does Verizon charge for non usage period?

Hey there, Mesu, we certainly want to help you out with your bill charges! Can you do me a favor and check your individual charges below your phone number on your bill? When looking at your plan cost, you should see the dates of service that you are paying for. Are you seeing that started as of August on your first bill?

There's a $35 activation charge per line when you first sign up, and if you had data transferred from an old phone to a new one, fees for that too. Third party affiliate stores which are not corporate Verizon locations may charge you some fees of their own, not sure.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
