Billing for a line that was no longer in use

My dad passed away on 5/18/2018. A few days later, in Chat, I asked a Verizon agent to cancel his line. However, about a month ago (May 2024) I discovered Verizon never canceled the line and had been charging my mom for the line for the last six years (my mom and dad  shared an account). My mom is elderly and had not noticed the extra charge. And she always paid the account on time. Also, my dad's phone was never used by anyone in that six years span,.

I think Verizon owes my mom the money they charged for a line that was never used in six years when they were specifically told to cancel it.
