I have three phones on my account. All three phones were purchased at the same time on the same plan from same location. I understand City and County taxes have to be paid on devices/services however, I am being charged City AND County tax for two different cities and two different counties…..BUT only on two of my 3 devices. When I called to discuss this with someone I was told that’s just the way it is. So by that theory I could go to a store and be taxed from another city/county just because they want to? I was also told this by someone from Verizon that doesn’t pay taxes in the US. I refuse to sit on hold to speak with yet another person from Verizon or schedule a call only to be called by someone that again does not pay taxes in the US.
How does this get fixed? This has been going on for five months now,

7/8/2024 -I just got off the phone with customer care. I was on the line for 2 hours being placed on hold and not helped at all. I been charged since 2022, for services and fees from city and county that is not a reflection of my residential/billing address.
i spoke to a representative Julie at 11am, she had a strong accent and it was so hard to understand her accent. I told her I couldn’t understand her if she can please transfer me to another representative that spoke English.
she refused to, told me there’s no one who speaks English in customer care.
i would ask to help me get a refund it’s $ 14 a month charge. I was charged for 2 years. I asked her to Escalade it to her supervisor. Which she said she is not able to transfer me or escalate since I don’t have a valid reason or claim.
She said she would need to know the reason why "I wanted to be transferred".
I this point I knew she was gaslighting me. Her only option was to have her supervisor call me back, in 48 hours! Now I’m waiting for her “supervisor” to call me with some shenanigans.
all I wanted was to get transfer to the person that can fix the incorrect “tax fee” charged for a city and county tax fee different from my resident/billing address on file!!!

I noticed this on 1/4 lines and filed an FCC complaint. I was told by my executive account manager because I picked up this particular device at a direct Verizon store as opposed to an indirect Verizon store, I was charged an additional city and county tax for using the direct store. At no point did Verizon tell me when I was entering into my purchase agreement that using a direct store versus an indirect store would I be assessed additional taxes that were in addition to my service address.
I am currently disputing the charges, filing complaints with the FCC and the Federal Attorney General as this is deceptive and did not empower me to make an informed purchasing decision.

I've also been charged taxes in 2 states since 2022. After 20 phone calls to get this corrected in the last 2 years, no one has fixed the problem. Today I was told that I have to pay the sales tax in the other state because I got my phone there, but I'm being charged sales tax in 2 counties in that state. Neither of those counties are where I reside. I paid taxes the day I picked up my phone too, so why am i paying sales tax on my service in those counties as well? I'm planning on switching carriers because this is ridiculous that so many people are being overcharged and not to mention they're constantly increasing prices without better services. I might as well switch to prepaid, because this is robbery at this point.

It's certainly important to be taxed correctly on your bill, and when you purchase equipment, Bdubbz. When purchasing something, sales taxes are based on where the device is purchased (like at a physical location) or based on the shipping address.
In regard to taxes on your service, this is based on the numbers service address, and not necessarily the billing address. If you have a line that is being taxed incorrectly, you'll want to make sure the service address is correct. You can update these addresses online via My Verizon. So are you saying that when I purchased my new device in State ‘A’, my tax on that device was spread out over the term of my contract, regardless of the fact that I moved to State ‘B’ a year later and am now paying their applicable taxes/fees?

I read everyone else’s experience with this issue and we are experiencing the same. No resolution when you contact Verizon and speak with people from other countries. You should be charged based on the address your bill goes to not other cities or counties for that matter. I personally will contact the BBB if our issue isn’t resolved within the next 72 hours.

Hi Myra25D. We do get the confusion there can be with addresses and what taxes we see. Taxes and fees depend on where the address that is associated with each phone number. You can check this out by logging in to My Verizon, Go to Account, Tap on Profile & Settings, continue to manage or update the addresses that are listed for each phone number. Let us know if we can help further from here to assist with guiding you through this update.

There seems to be a constant problem. I have been having the same issue for months. Every time you call you get a different story Why would I be paying taxes in two different states? Plus, I did a trade-in I was supposed to be getting the right credit for that. That has been wrong for three months now too I will never be a Verizon customer again. I am going to switch as soon as I can terrible mistake coming over to them from AT&T
