I was a Verizon customer for 5 years, from 2017-2022. Unfortunately, financial constraints caused my account balance to be so high that I could not afford to pay. The issue is the following events after my account was closed out due to the aforementioned financial situation...

First, my past-due balance was sent to the first of two collection agencies, Convergent Outsourcing, Inc. The amount listed that I owed Verizon was correct, HOWEVER, this collection agency added a miscellaneous "you were charged this amount in fees" of an additional $283.92.

Next, my past-due balance was second to a SECOND collection agency, Transworld Systems Inc. (TSI) and this collection agency also shows that I owe this additional $283.92.

To make matters more complicated, since being sent to collections, it also appears on my credit report(s), HOWEVER, my credit report, specifically Equifax, states I only owe the correct past-due amount that appeared on my final Verizon bill before the account was closed, and does not include the miscellaneous fees that both collection agencies included.

AND, to whom does my credit report state to contact in regards to this? NOT the collection agency(s) listed prior, but instead "VERIZON WIRELESS/SOUTHEAST" with an address and telephone number of " P.O. BOX 26055 MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55426 //(800) 852-1922".

And now that I have read this forum and the responses from Verizon Customer Service, it appears that there is no Verizon Collections Department (even though stated and listed as such on credit reports), but rather  "Financial Services" with a different phone number of 866-266-1445.

I would like to settle this matter, but as described above, the amount due is variable (and not explained, especially with the miscellaneous fees of collection agencies) AND how to properly get in contact with Verizon to discuss this matter so it can be resolved and taken off my credit report.

I was a Verizon customer for a few years and this experience has left me wanting to never come back to them. This is regarding my outstanding bill payment with Verizon amounting to $80.56. I was part of the corporate plan with Verizon through my Company 'Deloitte'. Both the device and the data plan were under my company's name and they used to pay the monthly data charges as well.
I left the company in May 2023 and I wanted to retain my cell number, hence I was advised by Deloitte on 05/17/23 that they have released the phone number and I will have to talk to Verizon to initiate the porting of the number to T-Mobile.

When I spoke to the Verizon representative, she informed me that if i want to port the number, i need to first create a personal account for Verizon. She also told me that this was just a formality and the charges being shown will be removed from the account as they are showing up since i created the personal account. Even the contract end date was showing as 05/16/2023 as Deloitte had ended the contract with Verizon already.

Lastly on 05/18/2023, I received an email from Verizon saying that my transfer request was complete. Additionally, I received an email from Verizon on 05/20 showing that my account bill was now updated to reflect $ 0.00.

Based on the above emails, I was rest assured that the charges had been reversed. I had already started using T-mobile service and assumed this matter was over. However, after about a month, in July 2023, I started getting emails from Verizon saying that my bill of $80.56 was outstanding. I ended up calling and speaking to 5 different Verizon representatives and explaining my situation and each of them ended up saying that they will go ahead and remove the charges as this was an invalid amount and I would not have any more issues... this went on for about 3 months with no change.

In the meanwhile, I had to go out of the country due to a family medical emergency and while I was out, I got to know that my account was transferred over to a collection agency. I spoke to the collection agency and they mentioned that Verizon should go ahead and reverse the charges. But whenever i called Verizon, i was automatically transferred to the collection agency. Finally after another 4 months of being moved around between Verizon customer care and he collection agency, i was advised by the collection agency to dispute the charges about a month ago.

And now three weeks after i disputed the charges, Verizon very conveniently sent my account to another collection agency.  I am extremely fed up due to their unprofessional behavior and this has also unnecessarily affected my credit score adversely for no fault of mine.

I dont known what to do anymore. If anyone can provide some assistance it will be helpful.

Hello,

I have been in a similar situation. I cancelled my services back in October 2023. We still had phones that had to be paid off amounting over $2,000. I paid this debt with Verizon monthly making at least $250 if not more monthly until I got this is paid off after Verizon sent it to collections in April 2024. Now the problem is that I spoke with numerous of representatives about this, and how I can do payment arrangements.  I spoke with someone back in either November 2023 or December 2023, and she said as long as I make payments, everything will be fine. I then called back in January 2024 and spoke with a representative named May.  She said that everything is fine and not to worry. She ensured me that since  I have shown I have made payments every month since the disconnection, that she will put in my account a "promise to pay balance on the account". She also guaranteed me that this would NOT go to collections. After noticing that it went into collections and affected my credit,  I called back to Verizon and spoke to representative Fredielin that did tell me that Verizon did report it as delinquent. I asked her about my conversation with May and to see what my account notes state, and she did confirm what May said about "promise to pay balance on account". I called back and spoke with a representative named Kat to discuss this farther. She confirmed to me that it has been delinquent for about 6 months since I did not pay it off  – even though I had an agreement with Verizon. I did pay this account off in full in April 2024.

I do not understand why Verizon lies to their customers. Why make empty promises and deceive us? This is why people leave this company daily.

Thanks

I have had the same issue. I had a bill from Verizon Fios in 2018. Settled and paid the bill in 2020. Since then I’ve received multiple calls from different collection agencies stating that I still owe the debt. I thankfully have a paid in full letter from the company I paid the debt too but it’s irritating that I keep getting calls and it keeps being reported against me. I’m so tired of these people. I ended up emails the Fios executive team and they even said the debt was settled but they can’t do anything because it was settled outside of their company. This is the most frustrating process ever.
