After my company switched service providers from Verizon to a different service provider for my reimbursed cell service, Verizon wouldn't let me pay my bill for my phone unless it was paid in full immediately, on the spot. I continually was transferred to several departments, talking with multiple people. I was willing to even pay the large sum in two payments for $1,000 total, but they refused.
I kept calling over several month to settle this to allow me to make a payment but they refused. I was required to pay in full, end of subject.
Finally, I got someone to accept a large partial payment and pay the remainder in 2 weeks time, I was so appreciative to enter payment arrangements and get this taken care of. Unfortunately, I called not even 2 weeks later, they said that it was sent to collections and I couldn't make my second payment. I verified immediately that it now appears on my credit report.
Not only could I not make my final payment, but they said that my first payment may not be credited because it was turned over to a collection agency and it likely wouldn't show on their end.
Effectively, I wasn't allowed to make payment arrangements and then when I did, they turned it immediately over to collections.
The horrible thing here is that I have been planning to buy my first home in the next month but this will likely tank any chance of that happening. I have worked hard to get my downpayment (years working at this) and kept my credit score in the 700's, but has hit my credit score so hard that it will be hard to recover any time soon.
Whyyyyy????? Why does Verizon have to be so horrible to people willing to pay their bills?? Honestly, I have to escalate this and get anyone and everyone involved for likely being denied a mortgage because of Verizon obstinance. It's nothing short of disgraceful.
