Contract extended without my consent

I called Verizon billing to know the reason for my bill went up. They told me a shocking news that I am on 2 years contract. My contract was expired on 7th May 2018 and never renewed and continuing on month to month basis. I bought a new router and returned the Verizon router on 29th May 2018. For this change, Verizon has modified my services to a 2 year contract without informing and without my approval. I was talking to customer service couple of before my contract expiry and specifically mentioned many times, not interested in contract. My discounts were extended till May 2019 and this was extended in March2018 and same is present in March2018 bill. Now customer service people is telling that they had extended 2 year contract and given discount in May2018. Which is wrong and it is clearly visible in March2018 and April2018 bills. The service I requested in May2018 was to remove my router charges. I called customer service and explained all this, they were still arguing the same and finally connected to the supervisor and she told me she will get back to me and never got a call till now.
