Customer service experience with Verizon (took screenshots of chat)

I reached out to a Verizon customer service rep via chat regarding the increase in my monthly bill. The representative explained that the increase was inevitable and that I should switch to one of the new Unlimited plans (makes sense, given the following: Verizon Raises Prices on Its Older and Best Unlimited Plans (droid-life.com)). They suggested I switch to "Unlimited Welcome" which they claimed would only increase my bill by $1/month from what I was paying for the past 2 years. I said okay, and they sent me a quote, but it was actually $6 more (not $1). I asked if I could receive a clarification on the discrepancy between what they told me (+$1) and what the quote shows (+$6).

The response was shockingly impolite and unexpected, given the previously cordial nature of our interaction despite lengthy waits after sending each message. Is such customer service treatment typical for Verizon? It seems there might be a significant gap in service training for effective and respectful customer interactions. Has anyone else experienced similar service issues with Verizon?
