Device promotional credit

UnhappyWithDevicePromotionalCredit

For years I enjoyed Verizons upgrade program allowing me to upgrade to the latest iPhone every year. When I bought my iPhone 13 I was surprised I was only offered a 36 month payment plan rather than the 24 month that gets me close to being paid half off when the new phone is announced and can give it back half paid off. When the 14 came out I wanted one but Verizon said I was not eligible to upgrade. My only option was to pay off the phone for $1,100 and then trade it in for a  "Device promotional credit of $830" What I didn't realize is this credit was to be applied in 36 mostly credits. In effect I am giving Verizon an interest free loan on the phone they bought from me! I want the latest iPhone every year and now I am locked in to this contract for 3 years to get my trade in value!  Around Nov 1  I spoke with a  Verizon rep on the phone and was  told I had until Nov 15th to return the new phone and get my old one back. I went to the local Verizon store Nov. 14 to return the phone and have the old iPhone 13 returned me to. Well, I was told I DID NOT have until Nov 15 to return the phone and my time was passed. The store rep looked at the call notes and no mention of this was recorded. I want out of this contact as I do not want t keep this phone for 3 years to get my trade in value. Are there other options?

My misunderstanding about this promotion is to do with the fact that after paying off old devices and trying to upgrade, I end up paying for the full retail price of the new phone.
My wife and I got combine $1800 credit  towards our new upgrade however looking at my bill we are still making payment for 36 monthly payment  on both our new devices which will amount to the exact cost of the retail price of the phone.

so what happened to our promotional credits because the math doesnโ€™t add up. I believe we should not be paying for full price of the new device if we got credit from  our old devices which we paid off and turned in to Verizon.
Explanation will be great. Thank you.

Congratulations on your new devices and thank you for the information that you have shared with us here. When you receive a device promotion, the account will still see the device charges applied monthly for the device payment. In addition, each line receiving a promotion should also see a promotional value applied as well. When reviewing your bill, do you see both a charge for the device and a deduction for value for the promotion? The promotion value would be listed seperately in a line item below the device payment charge for each eligible line.
