Fees for changing plan

Hello,

I currently have the unlimited Plus plan.  I will be traveling for 2 weeks internationally.  Considering I don’t plan to use much data during the trip, I am thinking about switching to unlimited Ultimate for a month while I am traveling to take advantage of the international features of the Ultimate plan and then switching back to unlimited plus when I get back. Would I be charged an extra fee each time I change my plan?

Thank you.

Hi there! It is great to hear about your trip. There aren't any fees to change your data plan. This means you can switch to the Unlimited Ultimate plan for your trip and switch back to the Unlimited Plus upon your return at no cost to you.

I've heard about doing this before, but it only works if you are not currently under some kind of contract (get a phone/device(s), trade in for something newer, device upgrade) involving your phone.  Otherwise, making any type of changes to your account while you are in a deal will be considered breaking the contract and then you will be forced to immediately pay off your phone plus maybe having to pay early termination fees for "leaving".
