Final Landline Bill Payment Failure

I have spent the last several days trying to pay a final payment on verizon.com/paybill for a landline phone. I put in the account number and nothing happened. I tried on 3 different devices, all Apple products (Iphone, iPad and Mac computer) using the Safari browser unsuccessfully. When I tried with the Chrome browser I discovered you needed to have a more updated version. I do have that on my phone since it is relatively new. It worked, the payment for the bill went through! I even received a confirmation. For those who have or had this problem, I'd be curious if you had tried using Safari or had an older version of Chrome. I hope this helps anyone who is having this same issue.
