I am a first time home buyer and single mom who finally saved up enough of a down payment to afford a home. And when they pulled my credit report, there was a Verizon debt that plummeted my score by over 100 points and will cost me a home and several thousand dollars if I'm even able to finance.
To make it even worse, I was never notified of owing them any money and suspect these are erroneous charges. I can't even find out what the charges are for as the reps say they will send me verification and nothing is ever sent to me.
I think that this sort of practice - damaging peoples credit score - without an option to pay or even get notified should be illegal.
The debt I owe (or that they say I owe) is less than $500....In what world does a giant company like Verizon get to ruin people's lives and refuse to notify or negotiate??? All for 500 bucks??
I feel like a few of us should come together to put a halt from the bullying by letting the FCC know and insist on mediation with Verizon. This penalty far outweighs the circumstances and something needs to be done.
