Hi all,
I'm hoping to resolved an unknown balance issue with an old closed account that I found doing a routine credit report check for myself.
It's dropped my credit score quite a bit and I'd like to clear this up but can't find the correct person to call or write a letter to. Any information would be great. Thanks!

You dispute it with the credit bureaus and they will contact the creditor.
if Verizon does not reply within 30 days it will be removed. However, on the credit report there should be a last report date, or a charge off date of which it will fall off after 7 years. You could call 1-800-VERIZON and try to speak to billing.
verizon may have sent it to their internal collection department of which the billing representative will transfer you or give you a number.
now if you really did owe this, you are going to have it reappear on your credit file as a new entry. Then the 7 years starts all over again. So you are better off just waiting for it to fall off. Making any payment starts it all over again.
and if your dispute is verified the bureaus will remove it. Contact all 3 credit bureaus.
