Free phone for new line

4/9/2024. 
I added a new line with the promise of “free phone”. When checking how my next bill was set up, I double checked and I would only be paying for the plan, no charging a monthly fee for the phone. But today on 4/16 I noticed that now there was going to be a monthly fee for the phone. What happened?

Hello, CowboyNick24. Congrats on the new phone. Help is here as we can assist with your billing concerns. With any phone, if you receive a promotional discount which could make the cost of the phone free, you will are responsible for the line charges for the phone in question. What this means is that since you have an active line on the account, you must have it attached to a plan where there is a monthly cost including taxes and surcharge. Please let us know if you have further questions.
