Lifelong Verizon Costumer - Frustrated by Customer Service

I am a lifelong Verizon customer (15+ years ). I have become increasingly frustrated by the customer service experience over phone and online in the last few years. 

I have recently been told by CS representatives that my service would be cancelled and then continued to be charged for months as well as sold hundred of dollars of items that have been useless/irrelevant to my problems I am solving for. Verizon reps have told me I was blatantly sold the wrong things.

It is getting to the point where I  want to switch internet and phone carriers for this reason - which I am reluctant to do.

Verizon: please make it easier to get help and honest answers.
