My wife and I went into a Verizon store for the $800 trade in promotion on both of our phones. We were eligible to get a Samsung 22, & Iphone 13. We upgraded our phones and plans last July and over the passed 5 months, we have had none stop hassles with Verizon and the fees they charge.
First, they botched out trade ins which cost us over $300 the first month for "trade-in adjustments"
I then tried to reduce our monthly payments so I opted to go to the 5g start plan. The Verizon rep failed to let me know this will void out the promotional discounts we have on the account. Not only was I charged $300 in prorated charges for changing the plan, I am now being charged $110 in promotional charge back because they removed the trade-in credit for the phone line and want me to pay back the discounts I was getting.
My bill is now HIGHER than it was before these changes because they took off the promotional credit for 36 months. If i want to change back to my original plans we had in order to get the device trade in credits back on the account, they want to prorate me another $290.
I've paid well over $1200 to Verizon for the past 5 months and in order to get out of this mess I would have to pay off the phones in full since they don't buy them back.

We're sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble. Promotions do have their requirements to be used and remain active on an account, and changing your data plan can affect that. Changing your data plan to something lower, which would then remove the promotion you have, would not lower your bill as you have confirmed. This is explained both in the promotion itself and when making any changes that would remove your promotion. It can also be confirmed here under the "deal and promo credits" section: https://www.verizon.com/support/device-deals-faqs/
