I am current verizon customer. I started a mobile and home internet line at the same time. Somehow they messed up did not connect mobile and home internet accounts. Anyways I called and they said yes we moved your home internet service to the same account. My account is paid up to date. Then I get a random email (Not a bill) saying I owe $139. I call customer service and they cant find this charge and says its a mistake everything looks good.
Now they reported it as a collection and ruined my 800+ credit score. I am going to dispute this but way to go Verizon, ding your own customer.

@ruby91 sorry to hear that. My ordeal just started this week. So far I have contacted customer service several times and they cant locate the closed account. They cant locate the collection agency anything.
I have opened disputes with all 3 credit bureau and also reaching out to the Verizon corporate. I am going to go as far as I have to for this ridiculous careless business practice.

Good luck! With Equifax, they stated my delinquency started sept 2022 (which was really random and caught me by surprise seeing it is not true at all) and even after showing my payment history that displayed when it was paid along with the billing history to show that it was all paid on time on the due date that that matched the payment date with auto pay Verizon still reported back that they have verified their information is correct. I have done the next steps necessary to hopefully have this resolved but hopefully you have a better chance than myself so far.

Update 9/8/23: Escalated matter to Verizon corporate few days ago. Got a letter saying that the Debt ownership transferred to some company named MRS BPO, and Verizon has a sent a second request to remove the collection from credit bureaus.
Already made the payment due to MRS BPO LLC. So hopefully they dont report it again. But will wait for thrity days to see if the report of the collection gets removed from credit report. 🤞

Update: 10/2/23
This was resolved after Verizon executive office stepped in and looked into my case. The collection report was removed and my credit score is back for the most part. Still little lower than what it was initially.
In my case I had full history of every time I called Customer Service to pay the bill. Hopefully this helps someone else in similar boat.
