It's a non-stop battle with them to reduce my phone bill. It took me months going back and forth with them to finally took $60 off my bill. My peace only lasted ONE month, yes, only ONE month. Now they hit me with an email saying that the $30 auto pay discount will be reduced to $15 instead next month. Another email to tell me that because I switched to a cheaper plan, which is ineligible for the device credit, my bill would be increased back to as high as it was before I went through all of the drama with Verizon to lower it. I'm so exhausted from fighting with the every single month just over the bill. This is not how you treat your long-term loyal customers. Maybe it's time to switch to another carrier.

I have a tight budget too, which is why I'm a prepaid customer. Haven't seen anything get cheaper over time; everything always costs more the longer you live, but if you find any exceptions the rest of us would be glad to know about...
From what I've read in the forums, if you change your plan or your device in the middle of a contract, it voids the contract and your credits will be gone. I don't know why the autopay discount was reduced for legacy plans, but will speculate that because perks are included in the older plans and said perks are provided by 3rd party companies, Verizon wants everyone to pay something for their perks now. It's kind of like how Pink Logo Place got around their "price lock guarantee" by adding extra fees on elsewhere (because their fine print says taxes and fees are exempt from the price lock).
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
