I don't really have a question, but a solution. Last week, I tried to pay my Verizon bill online, as I usually do. When I tried to enter my credit card information, I received the error message, "pie server is down". I tried three different browsers, Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Cleared my history, cache, etc. Same message across all three browsers. Decided to try again the next day. Cleared everything, but same result.
I ended up calling Verizon customer service. the woman who helped me was was great and provided the solution. She started by asking if I tried a different browser. yes, did that. didn't work. then she asked if I use a VPN. I said, yes. I had recently started using a VPN. She said you need to turn off your VPN. I did that and at first got the same message. I did a little research. The key was to use SPLIT TUNNELING on the VPN. I added verizon as a trusted site and it worked. If you receive an error message that the pie server is down, start by disabling the VPN, second try split tunnelling.
