Question about changing plans and promos

I recently signed up (1 week ago) for 4 lines and 2 watches and got phones and watch heavily discounted.

All 4 lines were signed up for Unlimited Plus ($45/mo with autopay) and the 2 watches are $7.50/mo each line.

NOW -- I was suggested by someone that I would be better off with 1 Unlimited Ultimate and 3 Unlimited Welcome. I verified my promos would still qualify for the Welcome.

Here is where my question though ...

  1. I went to the Verizon website and as I make the changes, I get a popup that says I will lose promos if I switch ...
  2. I then select the new plans and configure everything and it lowers my overall bill by $50.
  3. The promos are still showing under the lines as device credits.

So if I proceed will I or WON'T I lose the promos? I am satisified by the final price and changes shown BUT the warning at the start has me concerned I will still lose the promos even though they are still showing in the new price summary.

BONUS Question - Does Ultimate Plan come with 1 free perk ($10/mo) included and what is "ultimate phone upgrade" mean??

I don't know who made the suggestion to you originally about switching the plans, but if you signed up under a device deal, it is essentially a contract and downgrading 3 of the lines to Unlimited Welcome would then be considered breaking the contract, meaning your promos would be gone, and worse, you might be forced to pay off all your devices in a lump sum in the next month or 2.  If it were me, I'd heed the warning on the website and not change things up until your current arrangement (which I'm guessing is for 36 months) is up.

Unlimited Welcome is deprioritized to Unlimited Plus, so you are getting better service on Plus.

The device promos say valid for ALL unlimited plans - including Welcome.  I can go higher to ultimate with no issues, therefore I should be able to go lower to WELCOME with no issues right?  I would have been given the same deal if I started with Welcome from the start.

Not concerned about priority.

So my question stands -- IF the website says the promos are still valid with the changes, THEN they should be correct?

Disclaimer: I don't work for Verizon per my signature, but based upon what I've read elsewhere in the forums, I'd have to think the "valid for all unlimited plans" applies to when you sign up; it doesn't mean you can change the contract after signing up.  If you change something after you've signed up, it is considered leaving the contract early and you are subject to whatever early termination penalties there are in the fine print.  So even if you were to upgrade all of your lines to the Ultimate plan (which costs more instead of downgrading 3 lines), I wouldn't be surprised if the system still thinks you are breaking a contract.  I've seen my share of stories from other customers reporting this type of thing happening where they lost all their promos when they switched their plan somehow.

If something has changed in very recent weeks, would be great if a Verizon rep chimes in?
