I signed up for service in January 2019 using a refer a friend code in which i was supposed to receive a $100 gift card and the person who referred me is also to receive the $100 gift card. It is now almost July and neither of us have received our promised gift cards. We both have meet the requirements to receive the gift cards, including being in good standing and making on time payments. We have both received emails stating our reward cards are ready to be redeemed in March 2019 and followed the steps to redeem the card. After following the steps we received messages saying our gift is processed and we will receive it in 2 weeks, needless to say we never received them. I have made approximately 5 phone calls to Verizon trying to resolve the problem and have been transferred to 4 different departments spending countless hours trying to get status updates. Most representatives stated they cant help and provide a different department to call. One department says they can see that the rewards cards are approved but have not been mailed, yet they don't know why or how to mail them. I have spoken to multiple representatives and supervisors and each of them have stated that they are escalating the issue and I will be contacted via phone in the next couple of days. Once again these are empty promises, as i have not been contacted by anyone for follow up. From reading other posts in the forum I can see this is a wide spread problem. Has anyone actually receieved the promised refer a friend reward card? It appears that Verizon is advertising a program to entice customers to sign up for 2 years of service without any intention of providing the promised gift cards. It appears as though Verizon is intentionally running a SCAM, and I will be reporting them to the BBB for further action.
