Kiss that money goodbye. I signed up for a "package" for $87 per month and they "made a mistake" so it cost me over $160 per month. And they will not refund any money even though they broke the law and scammed me.

I am having the same problem. I canceled my verizon fios account service back in May 2014. My account on autopay and when the dust settled I had a $135 credit balance. I have reached out to Verizon several times to ask for the refund (althought I would have thought the refund should be issued immediately without requiring further action). Each time I call they are very polite on the phone and say they will mail a refund check. I've been told this several times now over the past 7 months but still no check. What do I need to do to finally get my refund? Very frustrated but just want to get this resolved. Thanks for your help.

Hi ballneaa,
Sorry you are having difficulty with your refund. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue. Please remember to check your spam/junk folder if you do not hear from an agent.

I was with verizon for over 10 years. Started having problems with customer service lying about what they were doing to my account. They would tell us they were changing things at our request and give us price then when bill came it was wrong getting them to fix it was another story. They would say we were told wrong and what we were billed was right but we don't want that and they wouldn't credit us for customer service mistake. Beware any new customers. The customer service sucks. Had alot of problems towards the end so we left and now the waiting for refund. Verizon has been holding my refund since December 16th. I was told it takes 40 days from when you cancel to get refund. Its been 2 months and still don't have my $74.95. I was told today I probably won't receive money till possibly the 24th of this month and even then she wasn't sure I would get it cause it hasn't been released yet??????? They don't care about customers they have gotten to big. That's why we left this company after 10 years being with them . Be warned if you have a credit on your account you won't get your money back for A LONG TIME.

I cancelled my service on March 14, 2015. At that time I had a credit balance for $140.78. It is now June 1, 2015 and Verizon still has my money. I have made countless phone calls and have been told numerous stores, It will take 3 weeks, it will take two weeks, the check was returned, we dont know why we didnt try to send it again please hold...etc.
I have reported Verizon to the BBB. Don't know if that will do any good.
I do have a friend who works at channel 4 here in Los Angeles. I am going to ask her if they can do some sort of investigation into this since it seems to be widespread.
I WANT MY MONEY! WITH INTEREST!

I am in a similar situation. I cancelled my service in mid-April because I was moving to an apartment that didn't have Verizon FiOS as an option. My last day of service was 4/29/2015. They took my new address and said that I would get a refund sent to me in the mail.
I've now had two bill statements (5/6/2015 and 6/6/2016) with a balance of -$38.77. I've called twice about my refund. The first time they swore it would be sent soon. I never received it, so I called yesterday. They told me it was never sent because they needed my new address, which I gave to them in mid-April. I was told the request for a refund check was again submitted. However, my account balance today is still -$38.77.
Can somebody please escalate this issue and tell me when I will be getting my money back?
Thank you,
Brad Stewart

Hi bradpstewart,
If the address information was only updated yesterday and you were advised that the refund request has been resubmitted, please allow a few days for the account to update.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll keep an eye on it.
I suppose I was also pointing out the frustration that I had already given my new address in Mid-April when I cancelled. It was given for the purpose of getting my refund check. I'm not sure why it wasn't in the system. And I'm not sure why I wasn't asked for it when I called about my refund in May. Something went wrong on the Verizon side.

I was quoted the wrong amount over the phone and it was documented. I was a customer for 13 years and there is no loyalty from verizon. My initial call was to lower my bill and after dropping my tv package 2 packages down removing 2 boxes from my account I was told if I sign up 2 years and do all of this I would save about $42 dollars per month. I got a confirmation email 2 min later that stated my bill was going up $26 dollars so I called in and the rep told me that the account was noted that the last rep was trying to apply a discount to make it the correct pricing. He told me to call when I got my next bill if it wasnt fixed so I did. I was told the account notes said he miss quoted me the price and the rep was unable to give me the discount he was requesting. So not only was I scammed into dropping down my service but I was lied to that I would be saving money. After about 2 hrs of repeat calls asking for a supervisor (being hung up on every other attempt) I reached a call center rep outside of the USA who was happy to put me on the line with her supervisor. (This is close to the worst part) The supervisor admitted to me that no rep could help me with the issue so they would always hang up on the customer if they cannot help them. This blew my mind as an ex employee of verizon and many other jobs that held customer service very high any employee who treated a customer like this would be fired. Well the supervisor said he would escalate the situation and make sure I was paying what I was quoted because it was the right thing to do. 4 days go by and no call from verizon so I call again being hung up on again multiple times when I asked for a supervisor. Finally ive had enough and decide to call it quits so they terminate my service and tell me to pay my final bill of rouhly $73. I then get another email stating they are trying to charge me a early termination fee so again I call back. I reach another call center outside of the USA and the rep and supervisor were more than happy to help. They explain there is no reason for me to pay an early termination fee because my billing issues were well documented that I had been calling in about for weeks with 0 solution. They waived all fees and even granted me a $40 credit. They explained just pay my final bill of around $176 and I would get a check for my over payment and my month in advance. Over a month goes by Happy with comcast and Still nothing from verizon so I called them to check the automated system even says I have a negative balance of $93.13. The rep tells me I have a $0 balance and transfers me to collections. They tell me that the balance is $0 I explained I have an email proving I have a negative balance and automated system says the same thing. They promised me they will call me in 24 and that was 2 days ago. I am filing a complaint with bbb. Its pathetic a company can do this to its customers that keep them in business.
