Good afternoon. I am active duty military and we signed up for verizon in August of 2023. We did a phone trade in promotion for four lines and received the trade in credit spread out over 36 months. I attempted to exercise the SCRA clause to terminate the contract as we are moving overseas, recognizing that I would have to pay a balance in light of the credit. I calculated the total balance with the credit as $972. Verizon states I waive this credit for terminating the contract early and owe $1644.
I may be splitting hairs here but this feels like an early termination fee here in violation of SCRA. Verizon claims there is no "service" contract but I feel like the service was intertwined with the phone that there are one and the same. Please help me resolve this issue with someone who is experienced in the law.
