Verizon denied payment methods and gave me late fees, restricted to cash

Back in March I started my service with Verizon for internet. I'd put in my debit card to make the payment- it had enough money, and later in April (if I recall) it was denied. Then I put in my bank information, with enough money, and it was then denied in May. From then on my payments kept getting denied and given late fees until Verizon locked me into paying with only cash.
To make matters worse, I went into a store to make a payment due that same day, but my autopay that I'd set in April , connected to my bank, had tried paying for it. Which became an empty payment thank to restrictions, and still said I had $0 to pay on my bill until a couple days later (today). I asked a rep at the store- they told me the same thing over and over again. And even after explaining my situation with late fees and denied payments they ignored it and told me I'm all paid up- if anything I had a three day grace period.
I don't know what to do apart from possibly switching services. I don't want to do that but I don't feel like I've been heard. I have little time to stop by a Verizon store during their open hours.

I'm having the same issue, as are many from what I can see. We've been using Verizon for 11 years, but making it as difficult as possible for customers to give a company money is ludicrous, especially when their employees have no idea how to help (all I've seen have been horror stories). Since they don't want our money, my family and I are looking at T-mobile or AT&T. Their plans are half the price for the same services, and presumably they'll be more willing to take our money. I'm going to let my friends know as well. I know at least some are currently using Verizon.
