Why am I asked to log in and password after every page? AND, when I log in with name and password, it asks if I'm an existing Verizon customer. How the heck did I JUST log in?!!!! This company makes billions and can even have an app that works properly. Who's driving the sports car and big house?

What make/model device are you using? Do you have a pre-paid or post-paid account?
I have an Android moto z4 phone and just logged in to my post-paid account using the My Verizon app after selecting 'Account' with no problem. It just asked for a password and not a 'name' or 'user-id'. A pop-up message thanked me for being a long-time customer. How about showing a screen shot of the login screen or the screen getting you to the login screen before you enter any info?

Are you currently outside of the US? I've read that logging into My Verizon is blocked when you are overseas, but I thought that was only if you were using a computer and not your phone. But if you are abroad and using WiFi or using a VPN, then the server is picking up a foreign IP address or can't figure out where you're coming from, so to speak, so then won't let you in?
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
