Verizon sent me to collections because UPS lost my equipment!

I sent my equipment back nearly 2 years ago, have a receipt from the ups store to prove it. I received multiple emails stating I have unreturned equipment, so chatted with a rep who said not to worry about it as it's en route (have a screenshot of this). I continued to get bills, messages, etc. Spoke with many more reps and finally got one who said they'd taken care of it (of course I can't find that screenshot) so I left it alone. Now Verizon sent me to collections. I sent the equipment back, the receipt proves it, it's not my fault ups lost it, that's between Verizon and UPS. Getting ready to cancel my cell plan over this, if they'd rather lose a regular monthly payment (that's never been missed or late) over $171 of equipment that I RETURNED WITH PROOF, that's really sad. Hate this company. Do better Verizon!
