What happened to customer service?

I have been a loyal customer with Verizon for almost 20 years and they used to have fantastic customer service.  Each time I talked to a customer service rep i walked away  feeling glad I chose Verizon, even if it wasn’t the cheapest wireless provider, because the customer service was so top-notch it was worth it.  

Not only has the customer service gone downhill, it has disappeared entirely.  It is impossible to speak to a human!  Its difficult to justify paying $100+ dollars a line every month to a  wireless provider when you can’t even talk to a person when you need it.  The AI chatbot is completely useless.  Please tell me there’s a way to speak to a representative.  Ive tried calling *611, no luck.  Ive tried asking the chat bot to connect me to an agent, no can do.

I know how much I like to just work with a real person as well, Gingerbee. I know that a lot of times those automated systems are designed to get you to the right department and help prevent getting transferred around once you do reach a person.
