Why changes in contract are not seen on the MyVerizon website?

I changed my plans, acepted the contract for 24 months, but neither my contract nor my bill has changed. The Verizon reprezentative say that everything is fine, but my bill shown on the website is about $50 higher than I was told. Am I expected to pay? Or Verizon billing just charges independent of the contract? Please let me know whether you have similar experience.
