Why do I have a negative account balance (-1.39) after having connection problems?

In the last hour I have had some connection problems. I was not able to access the internet, despite my router telling me that I was connected to the internet in the 192.168.1.1 interface. My account balance is paid in full and shows $-1.39.
After installing the 'my verizon' app on my phone and troubleshooting the connection, the connection problems magically resolved. What was the cause of the connection issue? Why is my account balance negative?

Hopefully it really is negative because you got some sort of credit.
