Wrongful collections account for equipment turned in!!

I was a loyal Verizon Fios customer for a long time and absolutely LOVED the service itself. I was in the military at the time. After my two year deal was up my bill kept getting higher and higher so I decided to go back to local cable. Our service was shut off after I called and switched. They sent me a UPS box to return my items. I was out to sea at them time in the Navy and and when I returned I had a letter stating the equipment needed to be returned or I would be charged for it. Instead of the hassle of shipping it, I returned it to the local Verizon Fios store in Newport News Virginia. The manager was very understanding and pleasant. I'm now out of the military and out of the state and I have a collection account on my credit report for over 3100! I can't believe it? Why would someone even want to keep a Verizon box? I had one Main box and a total of 4 or 5 little boxes for the bedroom and a modem. I can't even get ahold of anyone to talk to about the issue because of some strike. I had to talk to an attorney. I actually loved the service but when it's ruining my credit, I can't even sleep! Any suggestions?..... {edited for privacy}

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.

Please go to your profile page here on the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.

To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".

Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.
