how can I get a VERIZON support phone line that some one will answer

the standard support number took 1 hour and 40 minutes today, and the info received did not work out for me. While I waited, I tried a CHAT conversation that disconnected after 15 minutes. That at least included had a Financial support phone number that I then tried, only to be told that the wait time was 2-4 hours. ???? I need to talk to a human that can change my old account number to my new one so I can online pay my bill due in 19 days. No pathways now seem to exist. the old account number says "no payment due" and the new account number has a extrodinarily wrong amount.
