I have been a Verizon customer for 10+ years and purchased a new plan for my existing phone number about 30 days ago. This plan was the minimum $65 a month option and included an iPhone 15 upgrade. The Verizon employee at the time said this was a FREE equipment upgrade, and I will only be paying the State Tax.
I paid the tax for my new iPhone, and was happy with my $65 a month plan.
The first bill today was $114. How could this be? I called Verizon customer service today to inquire where this additional $49 in fees is coming from.
Here is where the Verizon employee’s dishonestly comes to light. As it turns out, there was no free upgrade, and the monthly bill is NOT $65 a month… There is +$20 charge for 36 months of paying off the new iPhone. They also conveniently added an additional +$20 insurance protection without my consent. So, the plan is not $65 a month, it’s in fact $114 for 36 months.
The customer representative today told me the new plan involves paying off the new iPhone. The $65 service plan is separate from the equipment upgrade, which i was told was free. Terrible and dishonest way for Verizon to lock people into a 3 year plan if you ask me.
